Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake: A Decadent Dessert Dream

Butter pecan praline poke cake is the perfect marriage of Southern charm and indulgent sweetness. It combines the richness of butter pecan cake, the gooey goodness of praline sauce, and the smoothness of whipped topping for a dessert that’s both comforting and sophisticated. This easy-to-make treat is a showstopper for gatherings, celebrations, or whenever you want to treat yourself to something extra special.

The Story Behind the Cake

Poke cakes became popular in the mid-20th century as a creative way to add extra flavor and moisture to cakes by poking holes in them and filling them with various syrups, puddings, or sauces. The butter pecan praline version takes this concept to the next level, infusing every bite with the buttery, nutty essence of pecans and the caramel-like sweetness of pralines.

Growing up, this cake was a family favorite for Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings. It was always the star of the dessert table, surrounded by pies and cobblers but always disappearing first. Now, it’s a tradition I carry on, and it never fails to impress.

Why You’ll Love Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake

  • Easy to Make: Uses simple ingredients, many of which are store-bought.
  • Rich and Moist: Poke cakes are famous for their ultra-moist texture, and this one is no exception.

  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans for garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake Base

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter pecan cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix according to the package instructions until smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped pecans if desired.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cake to cool for 10-15 minutes.

2. Create the Praline Sauce

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream, bringing the mixture to a gentle boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans. Let cool slightly.

3. Poke and Fill the Cake

  1. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the surface of the warm cake, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  2. Pour the warm praline sauce over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes. Use a spatula to spread the sauce evenly if needed.
  3. Let the cake cool completely, allowing the sauce to soak in.

4. Add the Topping

  1. Once the cake is cool, spread the whipped topping evenly over the surface.
  2. Sprinkle the chopped pecans on top for garnish.

5. Chill and Serve

  1. Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best flavor and texture.
  2. Slice and serve chilled for a decadent, buttery dessert experience.

Tips for the Perfect Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake

  1. Use Quality Ingredients: High-quality butter and fresh pecans will elevate the flavor of your praline sauce.
  2. Don’t Skip the Poking: The holes are essential for the praline sauce to seep into the cake and create its signature moist texture.
  3. Make It Ahead: This cake tastes even better after sitting in the fridge overnight, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Customize the Nuts: Substitute pecans with walnuts if desired, or use a mix of both.

Variations

  • Chocolate Pecan Poke Cake: Use chocolate cake mix instead of butter pecan for a richer flavor.
  • Coconut Pecan Poke Cake: Add shredded coconut to the praline sauce for a tropical twist.
  • Cream Cheese Topping: Replace the whipped topping with a cream cheese frosting for added richness.

How to Store Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake

  • Refrigerator: Store covered in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Freezer: Wrap individual slices tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.

  42. Been messing around on Craybet for roughly six weeks or so and wanted to share some thoughts since I haven’t seen many posts about this place on here. Signed up randomly one night and signing up took maybe two minutes. Minimum deposit is $10 and that’s normal for US-facing sites. They threw in a sign-up bonus — 100 percent match to $500 and fifty free spins on Sweet Bonanza. Wagering was 35x which is kinda average but I’ve dealt with worse.

Game selection is bigger than I expected. You’ll find games from Pragmatic Play, Betsoft, plus Play’n GO — so like Book of Dead, Starburst, that kind of thing. Probably close to 2000 games including table games. The live dealer section is powered by Evolution which is legit — played some baccarat and Crazy Time with real dealers and zero lag issues.

Now the one thing that kinda bugged me was how long cashouts take. Tried cashing out with Skrill and waited about 48 hours for my first withdrawal. After that though things sped up. Payment options include Visa, Mastercard, e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller, and BTC which covers most bases. You can look at their current offers over at Craybet before you sign up.

Mobile experience on Craybet on my phone is actually smooth. No dedicated app but the web app loads fast and all the games load no problem. Played a few sessions on my commute and no problems.

Customer service on Craybet has been alright — there’s a chat widget that actually connects in under five minutes when I’ve used it. Reached out once about a pending withdrawal and it was resolved within hours. Licensing is Curacao licensed which is standard for platforms like this. Wouldn’t say it’s perfect — promo codes seem rare — but overall it does the job for me.

  43. So I’ve been playing on Craybet for roughly two months now and figured I’d share my experience because there’s not much discussion about it in this forum. Signed up on a whim and registration literally took two minutes. Starting deposit was $10 and that’s normal for US-facing sites. They threw in a welcome bonus — matched my first deposit 100% up to 500 and 50 free spins on Gates of Olympus. Playthrough requirements were 35 times the bonus which is kinda average but I’ve dealt with worse.

Game selection is decent honestly. They’ve got titles from Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, plus Play’n GO — meaning Gates of Olympus, Gonzo’s Quest, the usual heavy hitters. Probably close to 2000 games when you add it all up. Live casino uses Evolution and it’s legit — played some baccarat and Crazy Time with real dealers and it worked great.

One thing I wasn’t thrilled about was how long cashouts take. Tried cashing out with Visa and waited almost two days the first time. Once you’re verified though it was faster. They accept credit cards, Skrill, Neteller, and BTC which covers most bases. You can look at the full bonus details on svnewtech to see for yourself.

Using Craybet on my phone was surprisingly good. I didn’t find a native app — the browser version is responsive and all the games load without issues. Played Book of Dead on my commute and didn’t notice any lag or glitches.

Support at Craybet is alright — there’s a chat widget that actually connects within a few minutes when I’ve used it. I contacted them about a bonus that didn’t credit and they sorted it same day. Licensing is Curacao-based from what I can tell which is typical of US-friendly sites. It’s not flawless — the bonus wagering could be lower — but overall I keep coming back.

  44. I’ve been using Craybet for like two months now and figured I’d share some thoughts because there’s not many posts about it around here. Registered after seeing an ad and the whole process took maybe two minutes. Minimum deposit is $10 and that’s normal for US-facing sites. I grabbed a welcome bonus — matched my first deposit 100% up to 500 and fifty free spins on Sweet Bonanza. Rollover is 35 times the bonus which isn’t amazing but not the worst I’ve seen.

The game library is bigger than I expected. There’s stuff from Pragmatic Play, Evolution, and Big Time Gaming — so like Gates of Olympus, Starburst, the usual heavy hitters. Somewhere around 1500-2000 slots including table games. Live casino uses Evolution and it’s legit — tried blackjack and Crazy Time with actual croupiers and it worked great.

Now the one thing that kinda bugged me was payout speed. Tried cashing out with Skrill and it took almost two days the first time. Second time around it was faster. They accept Visa, Mastercard, e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller, Bitcoin so that covers pretty much everything you’d want. You can check out what they’ve got going on on svnewtech if you’re interested.
