  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 5: Bake the Casserole

  1. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Allow the casserole to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve hot, and enjoy!

Cook Notes & Tips

  • Chicken Thickness: If your chicken breasts are thick, consider slicing them in half horizontally to ensure even cooking.
  • Stuffing Mix: You can use any flavor of stuffing mix, such as herb or cornbread, to add different flavor profiles to the casserole.
  • Make Ahead: You can assemble the casserole up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate it until ready to bake.

Variations

  • Bacon Swiss Chicken Casserole: Add cooked and crumbled bacon on top of the Swiss cheese before adding the sauce for an extra savory twist.
  • Vegetable Addition: Add a layer of fresh spinach or sliced mushrooms on top of the chicken for added texture and nutrients.
  • Gluten-Free: Use a gluten-free stuffing mix and cream of chicken soup to make this casserole suitable for those with gluten sensitivities.
