2916 Views

Homestyle Pizza Rolls are a fun and delicious way to enjoy all the flavors of a classic pizza in a bite-sized form. These rolls are perfect for parties, game day, or even as an after-school snack. Made with simple ingredients, these pizza rolls are easy to whip up and customize with your favorite toppings. Let’s get started!

Table of Contents

Ingredients

  • 1 package (16 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (or other toppings of choice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle, about 12×8 inches.
  3. Add Sauce and Toppings: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border along the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by the sliced pepperoni or other toppings of your choice.
  4. Roll the Dough: Starting from one of the long edges, tightly roll up the dough into a log shape. Pinch the seam to seal it.
  5. Cut into Rolls: Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled dough into 1-inch slices. You should have about 12 rolls. Place the rolls cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Season and Bake: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and dried oregano. Brush the tops of the pizza rolls with the butter mixture, then sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Serve: Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Cook’s Notes and Tips

  • Dough Rolling Tip: When rolling the dough, make sure it is even in thickness to ensure that all the rolls cook at the same rate.
  • Toppings: Feel free to get creative with the toppings—add cooked sausage, bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives for extra flavor.
  • Sealing the Dough: Pinching the seam well will help prevent the rolls from unraveling during baking.

Variations

  • Cheese-Stuffed Pizza Rolls: Add a cube of mozzarella cheese to the center of each roll before slicing for a gooey, cheesy surprise.
  • Vegetarian Pizza Rolls: Skip the pepperoni and add diced bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms for a veggie-friendly version.
  • Spicy Pizza Rolls: Sprinkle red pepper flakes over the sauce before rolling up the dough for a little heat.

Serving Suggestions

  • Dipping Sauces: Serve these pizza rolls with extra pizza sauce, marinara, or garlic butter for dipping. Ranch dressing is also a popular choice.
  • Side Salad: Pair these rolls with a simple green salad for a complete meal.
  • Game Day Platter: Add these rolls to a platter with other finger foods like mozzarella sticks, wings, and chips for the ultimate game day spread.
