Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake: A Decadent Dessert Dream

Butter pecan praline poke cake is the perfect marriage of Southern charm and indulgent sweetness. It combines the richness of butter pecan cake, the gooey goodness of praline sauce, and the smoothness of whipped topping for a dessert that’s both comforting and sophisticated. This easy-to-make treat is a showstopper for gatherings, celebrations, or whenever you want to treat yourself to something extra special.

The Story Behind the Cake

Poke cakes became popular in the mid-20th century as a creative way to add extra flavor and moisture to cakes by poking holes in them and filling them with various syrups, puddings, or sauces. The butter pecan praline version takes this concept to the next level, infusing every bite with the buttery, nutty essence of pecans and the caramel-like sweetness of pralines.

Growing up, this cake was a family favorite for Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings. It was always the star of the dessert table, surrounded by pies and cobblers but always disappearing first. Now, it’s a tradition I carry on, and it never fails to impress.

Why You’ll Love Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake

  • Easy to Make: Uses simple ingredients, many of which are store-bought.
  • Rich and Moist: Poke cakes are famous for their ultra-moist texture, and this one is no exception.
  • Irresistible Flavor: The combination of butter pecan cake and praline sauce is heavenly.
  • Great for Any Occasion: Whether it’s a family dinner or a holiday party, this cake is always a hit.

  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans for garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake Base

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter pecan cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix according to the package instructions until smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped pecans if desired.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cake to cool for 10-15 minutes.

2. Create the Praline Sauce

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream, bringing the mixture to a gentle boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans. Let cool slightly.

3. Poke and Fill the Cake

  1. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the surface of the warm cake, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  2. Pour the warm praline sauce over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes. Use a spatula to spread the sauce evenly if needed.
  3. Let the cake cool completely, allowing the sauce to soak in.

4. Add the Topping

  1. Once the cake is cool, spread the whipped topping evenly over the surface.
  2. Sprinkle the chopped pecans on top for garnish.

5. Chill and Serve

  1. Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best flavor and texture.
  2. Slice and serve chilled for a decadent, buttery dessert experience.

Tips for the Perfect Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake

  1. Use Quality Ingredients: High-quality butter and fresh pecans will elevate the flavor of your praline sauce.
  2. Don’t Skip the Poking: The holes are essential for the praline sauce to seep into the cake and create its signature moist texture.
  3. Make It Ahead: This cake tastes even better after sitting in the fridge overnight, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Customize the Nuts: Substitute pecans with walnuts if desired, or use a mix of both.

Variations

  • Chocolate Pecan Poke Cake: Use chocolate cake mix instead of butter pecan for a richer flavor.
  • Coconut Pecan Poke Cake: Add shredded coconut to the praline sauce for a tropical twist.
  • Cream Cheese Topping: Replace the whipped topping with a cream cheese frosting for added richness.

How to Store Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake

  • Refrigerator: Store covered in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Freezer: Wrap individual slices tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.

  1. So I’ve been messing around on Craybet for like two months now and thought I’d throw out what I think since there isn’t much discussion about this place around here. Signed up on a whim and signing up was like 90 seconds. Starting deposit was $10 which is about what you’d expect. Got a welcome bonus — matched my first deposit 100% up to 500 plus 50 free spins on Sweet Bonanza. Wagering was 35x which is kinda average but I’ve dealt with worse.

Game selection is honestly pretty solid. They’ve got titles from Pragmatic Play, Betsoft, and Big Time Gaming — meaning Gates of Olympus, Starburst, all the popular ones. Probably close to 1500-2000 slots total if you count everything. Live dealer stuff runs on Evolution which is quality — tried blackjack and Crazy Time with actual croupiers and had no complaints.

Tbh the thing that kinda bugged me was withdrawal times. I used Visa and waited like a day and a half the first time. After that though it was faster. They accept Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller, Bitcoin which is pretty much everything you’d want. You can check out the full bonus details on svnewtech if you’re interested.

Mobile experience on Craybet from my iPhone was surprisingly good. No dedicated app but the web app is responsive and all the games load without issues. I played some slots on the bus and had zero lag or glitches.

Customer service on Craybet has been decent — they have live chat and someone actually responds in under five minutes usually. I contacted them about my verification docs and they sorted it same day. I think they’re Curacao-based from what I can tell which is what most US-friendly sites. Wouldn’t say it’s perfect — promo codes seem rare — but as a daily player it does the job for me.

  2. I’ve been messing around on Craybet for about six weeks or so and thought I’d throw out my experience because there’s not many posts about this place around here. I signed up after seeing an ad and the whole process took maybe 90 seconds. Starting deposit was ten bucks which is normal for US-facing sites. They threw in a welcome bonus — 100% up to $500 and 50 free spins on Sweet Bonanza. Rollover is 35x which is kinda average but I’ve dealt with worse.

Their slots catalog is honestly pretty solid. You’ll find titles from Pragmatic Play, Betsoft, plus Microgaming — so like Book of Dead, Starburst, all the popular ones. Probably close to a couple thousand titles when you add it all up. Live casino runs on Evolution which is quality — played some blackjack and Crazy Time with real dealers and zero lag issues.

Tbh the thing I wasn’t thrilled about was withdrawal times. I used Bitcoin and waited almost two days for my first withdrawal. Second time around it dropped to like 24 hours. They accept Visa, Mastercard, e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller, and crypto so that covers pretty much everything you’d want. You can look at what they’ve got going on on Craybet if you’re interested.

You can use credit cards, e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller, and crypto which is pretty much everything you’d want. You can check out their current offers over at Craybet review to see for yourself.

Mobile experience on Craybet on mobile worked better than expected. No dedicated app though the mobile site is responsive and slots and live games work without issues. Played a few sessions on the bus and had zero problems.

Customer service on Craybet has been decent — there’s a chat widget that gets you a person pretty quick when I’ve used it. It’s not flawless — the bonus wagering could be lower — but as a daily player I’m still using it.
