Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom.
  7. Place three cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the cheese mixture on top of the noodles.
  8. Add another layer of meat sauce, followed by three more noodles and the remaining cheese mixture. Top with the last three noodles and finish with the remaining meat sauce.
  9. Sprinkle the additional mozzarella cheese over the top of the lasagna.
  10. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, spray the foil with cooking spray). Bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  11. Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
