A quick dinner idea that combines savory Asian flavors with tender beef, showcasing vibrant colors from bell peppers and the rich aroma of marinated beef.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
1 medium onion, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce (for seasoning)
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)
Instructions
Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef, soy sauce, cornstarch, vegetable oil, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well to ensure the beef is fully coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Heat the Skillet: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it is hot but not smoking.
Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the hot skillet in a single layer. Sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring. Stir-fry the beef until it is just cooked through, about 2 additional minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and bell peppers. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 30 seconds.
Combine and Season: Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together to coat the ingredients in the sauce. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.
Serve: Serve the Best Ever Pepper Steak over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions if desired.
