- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups water or milk (for creamier oatmeal, use a combination of both)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- Chopped nuts (such as walnuts or almonds, optional)
- Milk or yogurt for serving (optional)
- Extra cinnamon for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Lightly grease the insert of your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray or a small amount of butter.
- In a large bowl, mix together the steel-cut oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until evenly combined.
- Pour in the water or milk and vanilla extract, stirring well to combine.
- Gently fold in the blueberries.
- Cover the slow cooker with its lid and set it to low heat. Cook for 6 to 8 hours, or until the oats are tender and creamy.
- Once cooked, give the oatmeal a good stir. Adjust the consistency with additional milk if desired before serving.
