Seafood Mac and Cheese is a luxurious twist on the classic comfort dish that combines the rich flavors of the sea with the creamy, cheesy goodness we all love. This recipe features a delightful medley of seafood—think succulent shrimp and tender lobster—tossed in a velvety seafood cheese sauce that blankets perfectly cooked pasta.
Ingredients
Scale:
8 ounces elbow macaroni or cavatappi pasta
1 cup shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup lobster meat, cooked and chopped
1 cup scallops, halved
1 cup crab meat or mussels (optional)
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Seafood: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the shrimp, lobster, and scallops. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes until the shrimp are pink and the scallops are opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.
Make the Cheese Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer, stirring until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the Cheese: Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and Gruyère cheeses until fully melted. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to taste.
Combine: Add the cooked pasta and seafood to the cheese sauce, stirring gently to coat evenly.
Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
