  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or fingertips to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently knead the dough 2-3 times until it comes together.
  6. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
