Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup granulated sugar
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together well, then add the melted butter and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
Press about two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
Prepare the caramel filling by melting the granulated sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until golden amber. Add the butter and stir until melted, then slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring until smooth. Mix in the sea salt.
Once the base is baked, pour the warm caramel sauce over it. Crumble the remaining dough over the top.
Bake again for 20-25 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
Allow bars to cool completely in the pan, then lift out using the parchment paper. Slice into squares.
