Ingredients
Scale:
1 package (17.3 oz) of frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend)
1 cup cooked and crumbled sausage or ground beef
1 cup cooked spinach, squeezed dry and chopped (for a vegetarian option)
½ cup cream cheese, softened (optional for a creamy filling)
1 tablespoon of your favorite hot sauce (for spicy puff pastry recipes)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets to smooth out any creases. If using one large sheet, cut it into squares of about 3x3 inches.
In a mixing bowl, combine your chosen filling ingredients. For a cheesy puff pastry bite, mix shredded cheese with crumbled sausage and a dollop of cream cheese. For a savory vegetarian option, mix chopped spinach with cheese and add hot sauce for an extra kick.
Place a heaping tablespoon of the filling in the center of each pastry square. Be careful not to overfill, as this may cause leakage during baking.
Fold the pastry over the filling to create a triangle or rectangle shape. Press the edges together firmly to seal. If necessary, use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
Brush the tops of the puffs with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color when baked. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the puffs are p■ and golden brown.
Remove the puffs from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
