Magic Cookie Bars are a delightful treat that brings together the best of various dessert worlds into one simple, mouthwatering dish. Often referred to as 'Seven Layer Bars,' these indulgent sweet treats feature a buttery cookie crust topped with layers of chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts, all held together by a rich, gooey layer of sweetened condensed milk.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds work well)
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and let it preheat while you prepare the ingredients.
Prepare the crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until the mixture is well combined and resembles wet sand.
Press into the pan: Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Evenly press the crumb mixture into the bottom of the dish to form a solid crust. Use the back of a measuring cup for an even surface.
Layer the fillings: Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the crust, followed by the shredded coconut, and then the chopped nuts to create layers of deliciousness.
Add the sweetened condensed milk: Open the can of sweetened condensed milk and drizzle it evenly over the layered ingredients, ensuring every corner is covered.
Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
Cool and cut: Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes. Once cooled, cut into bars using a sharp knife.
