  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Stir until smooth and glossy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips if using.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
