A simple yet delightful way to make a grilled cheese sandwich that is sure to please.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 slices of artisanal bread (e.g., sourdough, whole grain, or a classic white)
2 slices of your choice of cheese (e.g., sharp cheddar, gruyère, mozzarella)
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter (softened, plus flavored butter options if desired)
Instructions
Start by preheating your skillet over medium heat. Spread a generous layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
Place one slice of bread in the skillet, buttered side down. Layer your chosen cheese on top.
Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the bottom slice is golden brown and crispy.
Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side until it is also golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
Once cooked, remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing.
