A delectable treat that combines rich chocolate flavors with the convenience of a bar, offering endless customization possibilities. Perfect for satisfying chocolate cravings and ideal for parties.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup caramel sauce
1/3 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or hazelnuts work well)
Pinch of sea salt for sprinkling
Optional: 1 tablespoon espresso powder to intensify chocolate flavor
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal of the bars.
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda.
In a larger mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth and glossy.
Add in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and half of the chopped nuts, reserving the rest for topping.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top and use a knife to create gentle swirls.
Sprinkle the remaining nuts over the top along with a pinch of sea salt.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Allow the dessert bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting them out. Cut them into squares or rectangles as desired.
