When it comes to comfort food, few dishes can rival the heartwarming and indulgent Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole. This beloved American classic combines the savory flavors of ground beef, creamy cheese, and crunchy tater tots, making it a family favorite.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 cups frozen mixed vegetables (peas, corn, and carrots)
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease.
Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
Top with frozen tater tots, arranging them in a single layer.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven, sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top, and return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
