Comfort food has a unique way of bringing families together, and one dish that embodies this warmth is the Cabbage and Ground Beef Slow Cooker Dish. This hearty meal is not only enticingly flavorful, but it also offers a wonderful blend of textures and aromas that will fill your home with an irresistible scent as it cooks.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
2 medium carrots, sliced
1 bell pepper (red or yellow), diced
14.5 ounces diced tomatoes (canned, with juices)
8 ounces tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon paprika
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned, approximately 5-7 minutes. Be sure to break the beef into small pieces as it cooks for even browning. Drain excess fat if necessary.
In a large slow cooker, layer the chopped cabbage at the bottom.
On top of the cabbage, add the sliced carrots, diced bell pepper, diced tomatoes with juices, and tomato sauce.
Spoon the browned beef mixture over the top of the vegetables.
Drizzle Worcestershire sauce over the beef mixture and sprinkle the oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper evenly across the top.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
Once cooked, give the dish a good stir, taste, and adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and cheese if desired.
